Business researchers fully understand the concept of stock markets. But business researchers don't have a monopoly on understanding stock markets. Individual investors, financial planners, corporate officers, stockbrokers, financial analysts, market strategists, and journalists, among others, are also well-versed (we hope) in the workings of stock markets. When it comes to stock exchanges, however, the depth of knowledge may not be as great as we think.
