WordPress: The Most Popular (Open) Web Content Management System

This column has concentrated on one definition of "open"-materials such as scholarly publications, data, and educational resources that are both free to access and free to reuse. I've looked at open access, open knowledge, open data, open peer review, and open textbooks. But there are many other aspects of openness that affect information professionals. I'm going to start examining these, beginning with a spotlight on WordPress, the most widely used web content management system (CMS) out there today. It is open source software-software that is both free to use and free to edit and change.
