Checking In on the Intranet

If part of your job involves managing, creating, or contributing to an intranet, I hope you'll agree with me that it's time to check in on the intranet. And if, when you hear "intranet," you think "SharePoint" (and possibly shudder), you might be interested in some alternatives. Your organization probably already has some type of intranet. It might be a sophisticated, full-scale SharePoint implementation or, more simply, a hidden-from-the-world webpage with links to internal documents. Probably, it's something in between. Regardless of the level of complexity, it a good idea periodically to assess needs, test fitness for purpose, and plan for needed changes.
