North American oil product demand fell for the seventh month in a row in July according to preliminary data. Demand weakness in the US and to a certain extent Canada continued to drag down regional consumption, largely offsetting sturdy Mexican growth. This appears to confirm the assertion that the oil price rise, combined with the economic downturn, has been devastating for North American consumers.
