Looming US energy shortages and their likely impact on the geopolitical landscape provided the major recurring themes during October's fall meeting of the National Ocean Industries Association, held this year in Colorado. Marshall DeLuca was on hand to report on these and other current NOIA talking points. Few industry organizations carry the clout of the National Ocean Industries Association. The only US national trade association representing to government all facets of the domestic offshore industries, NOIA came into being in 1972 with just 35 member companies. Today that membership figure exceeds 300 and the attendance list at NOIA's popular biannual meetings reads like a who's who of the offshore industry Its fall meeting, convened last month at the palatial Broadmoor resort in Colorado Springs, was no different as the great and the good of the industry gathered for wide-ranging discussions centered on possible US energy shortages.
