Statoil announced plans to establish a new operational area in Harstad to manage what the company deemed 'the considerable increase in activities taking place off the three northernmost counties in Norway'. The Harstad operations base will cover the already operating Nome and Snahvit fields as well as the Aasta Hansteen (ex Luva) and Skrugard/Havis fields. Statoil and partners are planning a decision on Aasta Hansteen later this year, with both Technip and Aker Solutions working on deepwater spar FEED studies for the V(o)ring area field in 1300m of water (OE last month). Plans call for the field's operations to be based in Harstad with a supply base located in Sandnessj(o)en and a helicopter base in Br(o)nn(o)ysund
