M.F. is an energetic 37-year old Filipino tax attor-nney in Los Angeles. Three weeks ago she started na low-calorie diet that consists of meal replace-nments and a normal food dinner. She has lost 2 pounds per nweek consistently and is very excited about taking charge nof her life again. We discussed the possibility of starting an nexercise regimen and she decided to take advantage of the ngym membership paid for by her company. The first week nwent by and she told me she could not make it to the gym nbecause of an important deadline at work. The second week nwent by, and again, she was not able to make it to the gym, nthis time because of a business trip. On her third week, she narrived and immediately told me how guilty she felt because nshe was “dumped” by her personal trainer because of her nprevious broken appointments and she is now off her meal nplan as well.
