In November of 2006, IBM launched a lawsuit against Platform Solutions, Inc., a competing mainframe vendor, accusing it of patent infringement. In 2007, PSI filed a countersuit charging IBM with antitrust violations and unfair competition. But in July, IBM tried to put an end to the unpleasantness by simply acquiring PSI for an undisclosed sum of cash. Both companies expressed delight over the merger, but not everyone was happy.
