British Energy hopes that resolution of the latest technical glitches challenging its fleet of advanced gas-cooled reactors, or AGRs, will eventually start to reverse the continuous downward slide in output since fiscal 1988/99, a well-placed company source said September 2. "Output losses caused by some big-ticket repair items have been masking a generally improved performance across the fleet," said the source.
