DOE ‘must follow the law’ on nuclear waste, Perry tells House panel

Secretary of Energy Rick Perry told a House Appropriations subcommittee June 20 that the country can no longer “kick the can down the road” on nuclear waste, saying it “must follow the law.” During a hearing on DOE’s budget request for fiscal 2018, members of the panel’s Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development said they supported the Trump administration’s proposed restart of the licensing process for a high-level nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain, Nevada.
