French national audit office criticizes decommissioning plans

The French national audit office, the Cour des Comptes, in a reportMarch 4 to the finance committee of the French senate, has criticizedthe way the French state has handled the closure of the Fessenheimnuclear plant and also how the French government is handling theissue of decommissioning nuclear reactors.The senate committee had asked the Cour des Comptes to studythe impact of the closure of 14 reactors in the country by 2035, asplanned by the French government under its PPE energy mix plan forthe periods 2018 to 2023 and 2023 to 2028.
