Labor dispute could shut OPG’s Darlington, Pickering units in January

The Ontario Power Workers’ Union has notified Ontario Power Generation that union members have rejected a three-year labor contract, potentially setting the stage for the shutdown of the utility’s Darlington and Pickering units, with a combined capacity of 6,980 MW, as well as dozens of hydroelectric stations by January 4, OPG said in a December 14 statement.
