Implementation of a management system for operating organizations of research reactors

This Safety Report provides practical information and examples for the implementation of a management system for operating organizations of research reactors. This guidance conforms to the requirements and recommendations of the IAEA safety standards. This publication is applicable to operating research reactors and includes their utilization, modification, refurbishment and upgrading. With some slight modifications, this publication can also be used for research reactors in extended shutdown. Siting, design, construction, commissioning and decommissioning are other stages of a research reactor's lifetime with partly different processes. To tailor the management system to an actual situation, applicable processes have to be defined and developed for that particular stage.
