The effectiveness of transmutation for the long-lived fission product Technetium-99 in a high flux research reactor is evaluated, taking into account its large capture cross section in the thermal and epithermal regions. Calculation of the evolution of the Ruthenium concentration under irradiation was performed using the ChainSolver 2.20 code. The results on Technetium transmutation suggest an effective use of this kind of research reactors and describes a new concept of multi-recycle Technetium transmutation using HFR_(TRAN)(high flux research reactor for transmutation).
