Preface

It was November 2012 when the first bachelor student of our group within the Physics Department of the University of Bari defended a thesis regarding Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs). Since then, many research and development studies have been carried out that brought us to the decision to arrange a workshop dedicated to these devices, which in 2019 became the "SiPM Workshop - From fundamental research to Industrial applications". Fifty-one abstracts were received by the scientific secretariat, and the workshop saw a participation of about 100 scientists and private company representatives. This first edition can be surely considered very successful in terms of interest and future network and collaborations. The workshop took place in Bari, Italy, from October 2, 2019 to October 4, 2019, and was organized by the University of Bari, the Polytechnic of Bari, and by the local section of the Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN). It was hosted by the "Centro Polifunzionale Studenti" of the University of Bari, a historical building in the city center with an extremely animated atmosphere due to its student life.
