Several countries cancelled plans for new reactors after Japan's 2011 Fukushima accident, but 15 others have active build programmes. Aside from China (excluded here after extensive coverage in our April 2014 issue), more than 40 reactors are under construction, ranging from a prototype small modular reactor (SMR) to 1600 MWe PWRs. Two countries are building fast reactors, both scheduled for commercial operation in 2014.
