Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh has laid the foundation stone for a new four-unit nuclear power plant at Gorakhpur, 170km north west of Delhi. The ceremony, held on 13 January 2014, was attended by around 30,000 people from the local area. South Korea has approved a $7 billion project to build two new 1400 MW reactors at the existing Shin Kori nuclear site. Shin Kori 5&6 are due to start construction in September 2014.
