摘要

It is expected that the world demand for en- ergy will experience unprecedented growth in the coming decades. At the same time, the global ecological consequences of emissions from en- ergy production and use will cause increasing concern and attention from government and policy makers internationally. Central among these issues is that of the effect of CO_2 emis- sions on the global climate. The choice of en- ergy options and strategies remain open in the long-term: however, nuclear power should play a significant role for satisfying the world's grow- ing energy requirements in an ecologically friendly way.
