Kevin Brophy is Associate Professor and coordinator of creative writing at the University of Melbourne. He is a poet, novelist and essayist. He has had ten other books published: four collections of poetry, four works of fiction and two collections of essays on creativity and creative writing. His groundbreaking book, Creativity: Psychoanalysis, Surrealism and Creative Writing was short-listed for the New South Wales Premiers Literary Award for non fiction in 1998. His collection of short fiction, What Men and Women Do, was highly commended in the FAW Christina Stead Award for 2006. In 2009 he was joint winner of Australia's Calibre Prize for an outstanding essay.
