Fuji Senishizai Kogyo Co., Ltd. has developed an ultra heat-resisting needle felt base material derived from a mineral fiber which is incombustible even when exposed directly to flames at 1,000℃. A hardened plate and a hardened roller displaying a cushion effect were fabricated and commercialized by the company by applying this felt base material jointly with a resin processing manufacturer. This needle felt base material is a compound fiber consisting of a mixture of basalt and a carbon fiber, features a contact heat resistance of 700℃, and is not burned or carbonized even when exposed directly to flames at 1,000℃ continuously for 15min. Aramide fiber felt (Kevlar) was carbonized and pierced through in three minutes and 20sec under the same conditions.
