Oriental Engineering Co., Ltd. has developed a vacuum carburizing furnace enabling atmosphere control using a unique type of sensor, which can process various types of mechanical parts in a mixture as rapidly as in one-half the time required by the gas carburizing furnace most commonly used today. The generic type of vacuum carburizing furnace allows rapid processing, but since it is based on depressurized operation, atmosphere control had been difficult and the range of applications rather limited. The new vacuum carburizing furnace is the first furnace permitting atmosphere control.
