Hitachi Techno Engineering Co., Ltd. has developed a marathon simulator that can provide runners with conditions very close to those on an actual running course. This simulator consists of a belt conveyor on which the runner runs, a large monitor displaying the environmental landscapes, and sensors for measuring the pulsebeat, speed and other related factors. The display screen shows the actual running course, and the landscapes are changed in synchrony with the runner's progress.
