Boozing flies expose 'alcoholic genes'

Fruit flies show a surprising similarity to humans when served a few stiff drinks too many. They stumble around, fall over and eventually pass out. Now researchers at the Gallo Center of the University of California, San Francisco, are looking for genes that make fruit flies susceptible to the effects of drink. They hope that this might highlight the genes that lead to alcoholism in humans.
