Jabs take a stab at heart disease

A vaccine can block the transformation of "good" cholesterol into "bad" cholesterol and so reduce fatty deposits on artery walls in rabbits, say researchers at a biotechnology company in Massachusetts. If it proves equally effective in humans, the vaccine could be administered as a simple twice-yearly booster-a safer, cheaper and easier way of fighting heart disease than the cholesterol-lowering drugs most often used today.
