You would hardly credit the fuss that people are making about the design of euro notes and coins. And it's the people who seem most content with the world from one year to the next who are doing the most complaining. A way around the fuss, as Mark Ward has suggested (This Week, 1 March, p 8), would be for us all to use electronic cash and smart cards.
