Most of us enjoy a good plate of fish, whether trout or salmon, cod, halibut or shellfish. But bringing that fish to our plate requires a massive effort, and not only by our fishermen. Fisheries is a big subject especially if you include the politics of fishing, European regulations and attempts to maintain stocks and to guard against overfishing. There is also a range of new technologies, and pollution of fishing grounds as well as the biology of the fish themselves to be considered.
