Male hormones make for a lousy life

A survey by Canadian researchers confirms many women's deepest suspicions: males are lousy and—surprise, surprise— the problem lies in their sex hormones. Laboratory studies long ago showed that androgens such as testosterone depress the immune system and make adult male mammals susceptible to parasite infection. Females are protected by the hormone oestrogen, which tends to stimulate cell-mediated and blood-based immunity.
