Lab-grown food offers vegan menu for dogs

DOGS can now go vegan, if their owners want them to. Californian start-up Wild Earth touts its bioreactor-grown dog food as "clean protein". The company says it has all the nutrients a dog needs and has a lower associated carbon footprint than meat-based food. Wild Earth makes the food by pumping sugar into a cylindrical bioreactor for growing fungi. The fast-growing fungus Aspergillus oryzae is then strained and baked into dog pellets.
