Power transistors made on thinned 300mm wafers

Infineon has produced the first power semiconductors on a thinned 300mm wafer at its Villach fab in Austria. The chips are said to exhibit the same behaviour as those made on a 200mm wafer. "Our engineers' achievement marks a quantum leap in production technology," claimed Dr Reinhard Ploss, Infineon's operations, research & development and labour director, adding: "Innovation secures our edge over the competition."
