MediaTek unveils 4K smart TV chip

MediaTek has announced a new 4K smart TV chip, the MT9638, which comes with an integrated high-performance Al processing unit (APU).The MT9638 has been designed to support Al enhancement technologies such as Al super resolution, Al picture quality and Al voice assistants, plus variable refresh rate (VRR) and MEMC (motion estimation and motion compensation) so that graphics will appear smoother.The device's high processing capabilities means that it has been optimised for visual quality, and will give global TV makers features to design competitive 4K smart TVs.
