Image noise smoothing using a modified Kalman filter

Noise smoothing is significant in image processing applications. Precipitated by previous research, this paper aims at reducing the noise using the Kalman filter. First, an image model based on Markov random field is built. Then the standard Kalman filter is implemented as a smoother. In order for the innovation to be fully used by the filter, the multi-innovation is introduced to improve the filtering/smoothing performance. Experimental results validate the proposed methods.
