This paper deals with modeling and simulation of distributed systems, which components communicate asynchronous via message passing, in Java programming language. Distributed system is observed as a collection of entities based on object modeling. A model consists of active objects, which present a generalization of entities, realized as Java threads. Characteristics of active objects are presented with chained list. The paper presents model of active objects asynchronous communication with unidirectional channels. Both components, communicating asynchronous via message passing and channels are modeled as active entities, and incoming and outgoing messages are stored in FIFO queues. Proposed model is used for simulating a work of local area network in real time. A model can be executed as an application and (or) an applet.
