I love my Mac. I've said it often and with great fervor for almost 20 years now, ever since my father took pity on his penniless, perpetual-student son and bequeathed his aging Mac 512K. I've had a few Macs since then, and more than a few friendly arguments with PC fans who persist in wanting to do things the hard way. My favorite us-vs.-them moment came when a colleague, the technical editor of a major consumer magazine at which we both worked, reacted to the news that his beloved MS-DOS command line would soon be replaced by the first (Mac-imitating) Windows operating system. "The dummies have won," he sniffed, barely holding back the tears.
