The dovetailing of advances in pathophysiology and in imaging technology is moving us closer to achieving our clinical goals of AD detection, diagnosis, and drug development. In fact, we have gained enough theoretical insight and technical sophistication that our current array of imaging tools are adequate to capture key elements of AD pathology. What is still lacking, in most cases, is empirical validation.
