HP acquisitions bear 'adaptive' fruit

HP last week unveiled software and services that promise to help IT managers better integrate management data, assign user access rights, manage heterogeneous servers and start to implement service-oriented processes across their networks. At its HP Software Universe conference last week in Germany, the company announced about 40 products and services designed to support its Adaptive Enterprise vision. HP says these products will provide customers with software and services to create IT environments that grow and shrink according to business demands. HP has joined IBM, Microsoft and Sun in detailing strategies that the companies say will enable a utility computing model across enterprise networks.
