Netifice Communications announced last week that it is acquiring Aventail's Managed Secure Sockets Layer VPN Services business unit, including all 120 customers, 33 employees and network assets. Netifice and Aventail are privately held companies and are not disclosing the financial details of the acquisition. But Netifice's CEO Craig Young says his company is paying a "significant amount of cash." The deal allows Netifice to beef up its portfolio of remote-access VPN services with its first SSL offering. The sale also lets Aventail more squarely focus and expand its SSL VPN gear business.
