Cisco acquires Nuova, unveils switch

Cisco last week announced it plans to fully acquire a switch start-up it funded, and unveiled the newest member of the data-center switching line it and the start-up developed. At its Partner Summit conference in Honolulu, Cisco introduced the Nexus 5000 series switch, which was a collaborative development between Cisco and Nuova Systems, which was founded by several ex-Cisco switching executives for $20 million. In August 2006, Cisco paid $50 million to acquire an 80% stake in Nuova, and this week it acquired the remaininc 20% stake.
