Big users yield a big stick

Take Heed, It vendors. There's a new user group in town, and its members are well aware that their $50 billion in collective IT spending is a coveted by vendors. The Open Data Center Alliance has 70 members, including BMW, JPMorgan Chase, Marriott International and Shell.The alliance isn't publishing specifications or standards, but it will examine broad business IT needs - such as interoperability, cross-platform management capabilities, and cloud portability - and urge tech vendors to plan products around those needs.
