Avocent Cuts the Cord

It was bound to happen. The pervasiveness of wireless networking has reached into the keyboard, video and mouse industry by way of Avocent's new LongView Wireless KVM extender. The device doesn't quite rock the industry, but Avocent is breaking new ground with a niche product that will no doubt be a bellwether for future wireless solutions in the data-center management space. The $995 LongView Wireless frees the monitor, mouse, speakers and keyboard from most PCs (sorry, it doesn't support Macs) and puts wireless in the middle when it's desirable to have the machine in one spot and its input devices in another.
