Aten Unveils KN9116 KVM Over IP Switch

Aten Technology is joining the growing networked KVM (keyboard/video/mouse) market with its 16-port KN9116. Despite a respectable feature set, there isn't enough here to keep competitors like Avocent and Raritan Computer up at night. The bottom line: It's a reasonably priced, easy-to-configure system, but it doesn't really stand out from the crowd. The KN9116 connects to servers using conventional bulky KVM cables, from 1.2 meters to 6 meters in length. (Note to Aten: Category 5 cables would make cable management easier.) It supports USB, PS2 and Sun inputs. From the front-panel push buttons and a locally attached keyboard, mouse and monitor, you control the KN9116 and attached servers.
