The spread of Internet/Intranet is making distributed sys- tems more popular, such as heterogeneous servers and clients cooperating in distributed network environment. In this situation, distributed object technology is attracting attention as a technology for cooperation between programs in distributed network environment. ACOS-4/NPX supports this distributed object technology to provide interoperability between programs on open systems, such as UNIX/Win- dowsNT/PC, and programs on ACOS-4/NPX. This paper describes the specifications of the distributed object technology and functions supported by ACOS-4/NPX.
