Advanced SONET 2.4 G 4-Fiber Ring Network System

An advanced SONET (Synchronous Optical Network) 2.4 Gbps 4-fiber ring network system, named ITS-2400A, has been developed. The 4-fiber ring network is a self-healing type ring network that adopts the BLSR (Bi-Directional Line Switched Ring) architecture referred to in the Bellcore specification GR-1230-CORE. The ITS-2400A, which adopts 4-fiber BLSR, can be used as linear chain system with mode selection, and also the ITS-2400A can be used as regenertor with replacement of software. The ITS-2400A has SONET OC-48 interfaces for the aggregate line and provides any combinations of asynchronous DS3, SONET OC-12, OC-3,EC-1, and SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) STM-4, STM-1o, STM-1e interfaces for tributary line. The ITS-2400A has many other features such as non-blocking 400 add/drop capability, Extra Traffic Channel Access (ETCA), interlocking ring, bridge and roll, Intermediate Path Performance Monitoring (IPPM), software download, etc. The ITS-2400A will be used in the communication market in North America.
