New to US academy

Among the 84 members elected to the US National Academy of Sciences on 2 May were Karl Deisseroth, an optogenetics researcher at Stanford University in California, and planetary scientist Robin Canup of the Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, Colorado. In total, the academy elected 26 women as members — the most it has ever admitted in one year.
