Joyon smashes the Round-the-World Record by 14 Days on IDEC

Once again, Francis Joyon became the single-handed round-the-world record holder with the amazing time of 57 days, 13 hours, 34 minutes and 6 seconds. More than 26,000 nautical miles of excitement covered at an average speed of 19.09 knots, 4 knots better than Ellen MacArthur, whose record has been improved upon by two whole weeks. Francis Joyon set sail from Brest on Friday, November 23, 2007 at llh05, in a northeasterly flow, which reached 25 knots at the tip of Brittany.
