Bvi Charter Boat Show

It would not be an exaggeration to claim that multihulls took front stage at the 27th Annual BVI Charter Yacht Show held Nov. 5-8 at the Village Cay Marina in Road Town, Tortola. Out of my count of 59 charter yachts presented, 45 were catamarans that ranged from 42' - 76' LOA with one 85-foot, 12-passenger cat absent but represented by the four-member crew. It was clear that the multihull configuration has become a favorite yacht design in the Virgin Island charter yacht industry. Represented by Lagoon, Privilege, Silhouette, Si-monis, Argo Delta, Leopard, St Francis, Fontaine Pa-jot, Dean, DRA (France) and Mayotte, some older designs proved their longevity in the charter fleet while the newest hull, #3 from Silhouette, had just arrived from South Africa in time for the show! They reported a wonderful crossing from cruising at 25 knots to taking the opportunity for maintenance during the windless days. With a beam of 38 feet, chores can be completed comparatively easy while underway!
