This paper studies nonlinear free vibration under thermal loading of thin plates, with clamped immovable boundary conditions, of various shapes viz. triangular plates of an arbitrary geometric configuration and parabolic plates having arbitrary base and axis dimensions. A steady-state temperature field, characterized by constant surface temperatures measured from stress free temperature, is considered. Decoupled nonlinear governing differential equations, on the basis of Berger's approximation, have been solved by Galerkin's method. Parametric studies of such structures have been presented. This study reveals some interesting nonlinear dynamic features of such structures which may prove useful to the designers.
