Whoa! Hold on a minute. In the April 2012 Trains of Thought column, Tony Koester talked about knucklernpins as if they handle all of the trains drawbar forces. In fact, the knuckle pin doesn't carry any strain and it can even be missing entirely and the train won't come apart nor uncouple.
