An Alternative Method Of Making Tee Bolts And Studs

Some time ago ! changed my mill-drill tabte for an Axminster CT1. This table has 5/8in. wide siots which are suitable to take standard 7/2n, Whit' or M12 tee nuts. Although I had several of these nuts with 1/2in. threads, the use of 1/2in. studs or bolts was rather inconvenient for me, as a lot of my equipment, e.g. angle plates, clamp plates, drilling vices etc, have 3/8in, holes or slots. Also it is sometimes necessary to bolt through smalt holes in a work piece. It is possible to obtain tee nuts with smaller diameter threads, but these are quite expensive - so for me that was not an option. It is also possible to buy blank tee nuts. These are suitable for drilling and tapping to the size (and position) required. They are non-standard and I felt that there could be a cheaper way of tackling the problem of obtaining and using smaller studs.
