Eric Potts devised a simple accessory for accurate tailstock adjustment on his Chester conquest lathe. The drawing shows a simple attachment, cut from an odd piece of mild steel; the fixing and adjustment bolts are standard M6, thus giving one millimetre of offset for one complete revolution of the screw. Lock nuts are fitted and adjusted to give free rotation with minimal end float. A cosmetic enhancement would result if the main adjusting bolt were to be produced differently. This might be either turned with an integral knob then having two locknuts, or perhaps featuring a thrust shoulder midway along, with threaded knob and locknut. This is something, which I may well do in the very near future.
