ELECTROLYTIC RUST REMOVAL

Some months ago, a long retired jobbing engineer offered me some of the tooling he had stored for several years outside under a veranda. Never being one to refuse a gift horse, nor look it in the mouth, a small number of rusty tin boxes duly arrived and the contents were sorted. Taps, dies, reamers, MT drills and some lathe tools. The contents were mostly useful but varied from slightly red rusty to quite badly corroded with black crusty growths. More boxes kept arriving by the week and I had to do something to recover the better stuff.
